Believe it or not, MP3s may just be the bane of any anal-retentive, obsessive-compulsive music afficionado there is. And here are the top peeves I get from my own cluttered collection:
- Different file name formats
- Incomplete/blank ID3 tags
- Inconsistent groupings in folders
Here are not one, but two tools that I could recommend to you for your MP3 woes - MediaMonkey and The Godfather.
MediaMonkey
MediaMonkey’s your all around MP3 Swiss army knife that acts as your music manager, player, encoder, decoder, converter, grabber, tagger, renamer, and playlister plus a whole lot more. It can even rip audio from CDs for precious backup (or just to keep your CDs in mint condition).
The Godfather
The Godfather’s a mass renaming program that lets you rename MP3 files the way you want them to be name. Plus you can mass edit ID3 tags. It can also generate playlists and comes with a LAME codec for encoding and decoding.
