OSCAR hopeful Hilary Swank's marriage to actor Chad Lowe is under pressure because of the gorgeous actress's million-dollar career.
She's tipped to scoop her second Academy Award for Best Actress tonight.
But as Hilary, star of Million Dollar Baby, walks down the red carpet hand in hand with Chad, they'll be hiding a secret heartache behind well-rehearsed smiles.
Chad, 38—Rob Lowe's brother— has started seeing a psychologist to help him come to terms with his wife's huge success.
A source told us: "He hopes if he boosts his self-confidence it will help strengthen his marriage.
"Chad even booked a session with Beverly Hills shrink Dr Norm Freed at 7am this morning.
"He hopes it will help him get through the night when again he will be playing second fiddle to his far more successful wife.
"Chad feels emasculated by the fact that it's Hilary who is making all the money while his career is going nowhere.

"But at least now he's doing something about it before it really becomes an issue and destroys their marriage for good."
The source added: "Chad wants to start a family but Hilary doesn't yet because her career is going so well. That's at the root of all their troubles."
Hilary, 30, who met her husband 12 years ago, said recently: "Chad and I have always supported each other. It's not like Chad is going to get my roles. If you're not comfortable with someone's success, you shouldn't be with them.
"We've been happy for 12 years but I wouldn't want people to look at our relationship and think it's easy, because it's not.
"We met, that was luck. But relationships take work."
She added: "I'm still not quite ready for children. They'd have to come first. It'd be strange to have someone else raise your child."
Hilary has been a star almost from the word go and is widely regarded as an expert at whatever she turns her hand to.
She competed in the Junior Olympics in swimming and was ranked 5th in the state of Washington in gymnastics.
After moving to Hollywood with her mum Judy in 1990, she got her first break in 1994 playing The Next Karate Kid. And she won her first Best Actress Oscar in 1999 after she cut off her hair for her role as a male imposter in Boys Don't Cry.
Famously she forgot to mention or thank her husband in her acceptance speech.
She showed similar commitment when preparing for the role of boxer Maggie Fitzgerald in Million Dollar Baby, training exhaustively and gaining 20lbs of muscle.
Chad, meanwhile—who also lives in the shadow of his brat-pack brother—has seen his career nosedive since winning an Emmy for US soap Life Goes On in 1990.
In recent interviews, Hilary has spoken little of Chad, instead waxing lyrical about Million Dollar Baby director Clint Eastwood.
