Viagra's sect act for Tom
By Carole Aye Maung
TOM Cruise and his new girl must be getting serious —she's started taking an interest in the Mission Impossible star's odd religion.
Sofia Vergara, who's been dubbed Sofia Viagra because of the effect she has on men, has secretly visited the headquarters of the Scientology sect.
She was raised a Catholic and now friends reckon her visit reveals the huge commitment she wants to make for her man.
Problems
Cruise's previous relationships with actresses Penelope Cruz and ex-wife Nicole Kidman ran into problems because of the sect.
But on Friday morning Sofia, 32, who has been pictured on romantic dates with Tom, went to the main Scientology centre in Los Angeles.
A source told us: "She drove herself there in a green Range Rover and went inside.
"Sofia had no known connection to Scientology before meeting Tom, so it's a huge sign they are committed.
"She was in there for a long while. If she hasn't become a member already it looks like she's about to." Sect members believe humans are descended from alien spirit beings and give themselves regular zappings on electrical lie-detector machines to drive evil out of their bodies. The mega-rich religion, founded by novelist L. Ron Hubbard, was once branded "corrupt, sinister and dangerous" by a High Court judge.
Tom, 42, was introduced to it in 1989 by his first wife, Mimi Rogers, and claimed it cured his dyslexia.
It has since been reported that he donated £10million to the religion, which lists John Travolta and Lisa Marie Presley among devotees.
The source said: ‘Sofia was in there for a good long while. If she hasn't become a member already it looks like she is about to.
‘I think if Tom settled down properly again he would want his woman to be in the same religion. Sofia looks as though she will do anything she can to keep her man!'
