GEMMA Collins missed the voting countdown in last night’s Dancing On Ice because she was “naked backstage” – NOT because she was upset.
The Towie star’s professional skating partner Matt Evers has spoken out in Gemma’s defence after eagle-eyed fans noticed her absence.
After feuding with judge Jason Gardiner live on air, Gemma, 37, was notably missing when the other contestants came out with their partners towards the end of the show.
But Matt insists that the snub was down to a quick costume change rather than ill feeling.
Speaking on Heart Breakfast earlier today, the skater explained: “We were fine. What happens after we skated – and it happened with Melody Thornton as well – we had a quick change.
“We have to get set in to our second costume for the skate-off, so we were basically running around naked backstage.
“We got a lot of backlash again on social media, ‘how come they weren’t in that shot, how come they weren’t getting interviewed?’
“We had a quick change.”
Gemma raised eyebrows after her performance on the ITV programme last night, with she and Jason engaging in a live slanging match.
After the star’s routine, Jason said: “I know you were channelling Marilyn Monroe … There wasn’t any elegance like you were saying in the VT.
“She has to be elegant. She is a woman in control of her femininity. You were all over the place, hun.
“There’s not enough skating. This is your second skate now. You need to up the ante. We’re not going to see big lifts from you. We’re not going to get any impressive moves.”
Before he could continue, Gemma interjected and fumed: “Can I just say one thing? Maybe if you didn’t sell stories on me, I wouldn’t have been so upset this week.
“So take that! Boring, boring! Don’t sell stories on me.”
When Jason tried to argue back she told him to “shut up” and started shouting that he was “boring.”
Jason told the television personality: “This doesn’t help your cause. It shows you’re just a brat. Listen to what we’re saying.”
Gemma had taken issue with Jason slamming her in the press earlier in the week, with the DOI judge telling The Sun Online: “I can always see who’s lazy. Gemma is lazy. She doesn’t look like her heart is in it at all.

Jason also labelled Gemma “insecure” and urged her to stop complaining and start rehearsing as he worries she is a bad role model for young people.
