I had Palios on one side eyeing me up and Sven feeling my leg
IT WAS the electrifying moment Faria Alam found herself trapped between two of the most powerful men in football — and both of them were determined to seduce her.
The FA's gala Christmas dinner at Banqueting House in Whitehall was about to begin.
Secretary Faria Alam's eyes as she sat down at the table were on the man on her right — FA chief executive Mark Palios who had already been using his charms on her. She could see the possibility of a relationship and wanted him badly.
Sat on her left was the quiet, unassuming Sven Goran Eriksson — blue eyes blinking behind his spectacles as he gazed sideways at the bronzed beauty in her gorgeous red dress... nursing secret desires of his own.
Then the moment that was to trigger a scandal arrived.
"I knew Sven had been vying for my attention and looking at me a lot but I was turned towards Mark Palios, talking to him about football," says Faria.
"Then I felt a leg start to stroke up and down my leg. It was Sven's.
"I was astonished — completely stunned. If anyone could have seen what he was up to under the table they would have thought we were having an affair.
"I looked at Sven and whispered to him, ‘What are you doing?' He didn't say anything, he just smirked and went ‘Sssssshhhhhh'. Sven then looked me up and down and told me, ‘Your dress is stunning. You look amazing'.
"After dinner we all went downstairs to the dance area and Palios said, ‘Sorry chaps, I have to go'. He kissed me on the cheek and left.
"But Sven hung around and started chatting me up big time. It was clear he had waited all evening to speak to me alone, away from Palios. He told me: ‘I would like to see you'.
"I told him, ‘Isn't that a bit dangerous? You are seeing somebody (Nancy)'. He said, ‘Oh, that's a long story. I'll tell you sometime.' Then Sven left.
"I like Sven and I was flattered that the world's most famous football coach was interested in me. But I was more attracted to Palios at the time."
A week later, at the FA's Christmas lunch at Soho House, Palios was doing some under-the-table groping of his own — right under the nose of his own boss, FA chairman Geoff Thompson.
Faria reveals: "I was chatting to Geoff when Palios started playing footsie under the table with me. He then rubbed his hand up my thigh.
"I was so stunned I couldn't continue my conversation with my chairman and turned bright red. But I was really turned on and responded by stroking his leg too.
"I really fancied Palios. I loved his deep, strong, sexy voice and he had an aura of power."
In January Palios took her out to dinner at a London riverside restaurant near Tower Bridge. Faria invited him back to her place for coffee.
"On the walk home he told me he really fancied me. He was holding me around the waist and keeping me close and I felt wanted," she says.
"As he walked through the door he started taking my clothes off and I unbuckled his belt. He had a great body and was very fit. We both ended up writhing naked on the cream carpet in my living room. But he was not a foreplay person.
"After 20 minutes of sex in the missionary position he was dripping with sweat. But he was only interested in pleasuring himself and was so mechanical he left me totally unsatisfied.
"It was a huge letdown. Then he pulled up his trousers and said abruptly, ‘I've got to go.' I felt like a piece of meat. It was awful."
But Faria was still taken with the fit 51-year-old divorced father-of-five.
"On our riverside date Palios told me he had been damaged by women through previous relationships and didn't trust them," she says.
"I felt for him and decided to give him a second chance. So three weeks later I invited him to my flat for lunch. I cooked him some lovely grilled sea bass.
"But as soon as he arrived he said ‘Let's have lunch in bed'.
"I led him by the hand to the bedroom and as he lay on the bed I unzipped his trousers and gave him my special Deep Throat oral sex.
"He guided me towards what he wanted, but he didn't have to. Palios loved it. He was over the moon with my performance.
"When we made love he managed a few more positions this time but still didn't satisfy me. I don't think he knew what to do.
"Afterwards he asked me, ‘Do they teach Eastern girls at special schools how to satisfy a man – you can cook, you are smart and funny, you can s*** well. How do you do it all?'
"But sadly he didn't have a clue how to satisfy me." Faria had been expecting much more from her prospective new lover who had made his first move on her back in October at a lunch together.
"We went to Yatra restaurant. I was wearing black trousers and a shirt. He never even once said I looked nice," she says.
"We just sat quite close to each other. We were having a drink, my friend came along and I introduced them. He said he didn't realise it was someone's birthday and said, ‘Someone failed to tell me'.
"Then he kissed me. He was amazing. It was passionate. He was sexy. It took my breath away. He just held me very tightly.
"I was totally taken aback. Gobsmacked was the word. It was a long kiss. It sent my head reeling for hours on end after that.
"I didn't say anything but I was shaking like a leaf. He withdrew from me and I just turned away, I didn't know where to look. And then he said, ‘I've got to go. You know how it is,' and then he just left.
"He had to get home to his five daughters and look after them so he never really stayed out late.
"I later confided in my friends that I had kissed him. They just said ‘Oh my God.' I told them that I really fancied him."
Ironically, Faria revealed that Palios knew Sven had the hots for her — and even told her so BEFORE he made his own play for her.
She revealed: "I remember there was a fire drill one day and they all gathered in Soho Square, all the executives. I saw Sven across the road, standing by the entrance of the office and Palios was on my side.
"As we came back in, Sven was standing by the door waiting for me to go past before he went back inside. Palios noticed this. He called me over when we were both back upstairs. He said, ‘Can I have a word? I've just seen Sven. Sven really, really likes you. He was just waiting for you, looking at you, staring at you.'
"I said ‘I told you that before, that he likes me'.
"But because he saw it for himself — it's hard for me to say that he was jealous. I don't honestly think Palios was truly caring enough about me to be jealous."
What galls her most about Palios is that she had tried to be supportive of him when he was under pressure in his high-profile job — especially at the time when England star Rio Ferdinand failed to take a drugs test.
"The whole affair was a huge thing for Palios," she said. "It was his first big challenge. I texted him and I said, ‘I'm sure it's a really difficult time for you but you must know that everyone is on your side.'
"He texted me back saying: ‘Thanks for your support'. He was trying to make sure that things like this were never repeated — like missing your drugs test, for God's sake.
"Palios took a battering from the press and the fans over the Ferdinand affair. People were writing awful letters to him saying ‘How can you take the best player out of the England team?' and all that stuff."
But Faria's caring support for Palios was not returned. "He never showed me any affection and it was clear he was only interested in me for sex," said Faria.
"After we made love for the second and last time I just lay in bed thinking, ‘I chose the wrong man.
"I stopped seeing Mark and started secretly meeting Sven. And there's no doubt who was the better lover between them."
