PRINCE William is planning separate summer holidays with the TWO beautiful girls in his life.

He sets off on a trip this month with fellow student and flatmate Kate Middleton, his first serious girlfriend.

They are keeping their holiday destination a closely-guarded secret. Then in August, he jets off to Africa to be with Jessica Craig, the other beauty to have touched his heart.

"Kate must be an angel because there aren't many girls who would be so understanding," said one family friend.

Students

Wills, 22, and 21-year-old brunette Kate share a remote woodland farmhouse with their friend Fergus Boyd near St Andrews, Fife, where they are students.

Since the end of term in June, Kate has been back home with her parents in Reading, Berks.

University pals claim the couple are an item. "But there have been wobbles," said one.

"There was a crisis about a month ago and the wheels very nearly came off the whole thing.

"William was feeling under pressure and wanted to cool things for a while. It's difficult because at college they live in the same house, have the same friends and do the same things.

"And he knows that once the relationship goes beyond a certain point there is no going back for either of them."

But William has increasingly been seen around with 22-year-old Jessica Craig—known to friends as Jecca—the daughter of a wealthy Kenyan wildlife sanctuary owner.

The prince spent part of his gap year on the family's estate at Lewa, in the rolling foothills of Mount Kenya, learning about conservation. At the time, St James's Palace denied that there was any romantic liaison between the two.

But a neighbour of the Craigs said: "It's an open secret that he had a fairly serious fling with Jecca while he was in Kenya.

"She is a really sweet, unaffected girl. Apparently, she and William even had one of those teenage pretend engagements."

Fair-haired Jessica was flown in from Kenya to be guest of honour at William's 21st birthday party last year. She stayed with him at Highgrove, the family home in Gloucestershire, during the visit.

And the prince provided her with a shoulder to cry on when she broke up with her boyfriend Henry Ropner earlier this year. "Barely a week goes by when they don't talk and William will always look out for her interests," said one friend.

Only four days ago, Jessica and William were together again at a charity polo match in Berkshire.

William had agreed to play to support the Tusk Trust, a wildlife charity close to Jessica's heart.

The prince and his brother Harry played in opposing teams in the exhibition match at Coworth Park while Jessica looked on.

Wills has not confided to friends about his holiday with Kate, but he is enthusiastic about his plans to revisit Africa with Jessica.

One pal said: "It's somewhere he can feel free. Nobody cares who he is, nobody calls him ‘sir', he's just William.

Lifetime

"Things will get very heavy for him in a few years.

"He's looking ahead to a lifetime of restrictions, so he wants to hang on to this for as long as he can."

Even so, trying to maintain two relationships carries haunting echoes of his father's tangled love life.

One insider summed it up: "Camilla Parker Bowles spent years as a close friend before she and Charles took up their romance again behind Diana's back.

"Let's hope William is better at relationships than his father was."
