It seems that the internet is all about blowing up the things you take for granted, and stirring up shit, because we’re a few weeks into 2019, and we’re already deep inside a controversy of mind-blowing proportions. Remember, back in 2015 there was the gold dress/blue dress fiasco? Then the whole Yanny/Laurel debate last year. Now, it’s the right way to draw an ‘X.’
Personally, I never thought about how I did it, and assumed that’s the way everyone does it. But not everyone does!. And now, what the right technique should be has been thrown into question after a viral tweet from @SMASEY.
It pretty much tore up Twitter.

Here’s the tweet in question. Never in a million years would I have considered alternate ways of doing it.
Personally, I’m in the 7 camp, and so should everyone else; the other options just seem unnatural.
But to each their own, I suppose. But things did get little out of hand when people realized that there were other options and that they were in the minority.

That was my response.

The original poster then chimed in to give her consensus that in North America we learned the top down method of 7&8, while across the pond, it’s left to right.
So then what kind of weirdos are doing 1-4? That’s just bass-ackwards.

This tweet kind of backs it up a little – the archaic rules of cursive writing. Remember those?
I sure as fuck don’t. I can’t remember the last time I wrote this way, except for my signature, that doesn’t have an X in it.
Still, it makes you wonder, who’s really doing it right?
Nah, still me.
