3 Ways to Boost Your Compensation

Who can say no to a fat paycheck? We are all waiting for that raise which can pay all our monthly dues and still leave enough extra for weekend shopping. As a matter of fact, a higher salary is one of the biggest considerations every time we’re looking to transfer to another job. Problem is, employers want to save up on everything, even on employees’ salaries. So what do you do if you’re offered less than what you deserve?
Research what others in the same field as yours are getting. It is important that you know so you can determine which job offer is not being fair and which one is the jackpot. When you’re offered a low salary, simply state that from what you know about present salary rates, a person with your experience and skills should be able to earn this much. Know your worth.
Is there a long list of benefits and perks? The salary may be low, but the benefits could be very generous. Ask about allowances, paid leaves, and other bonuses. Summing them up could add up to very good compensation package.
Earn a higher degree. Going back to school doesn’t have to be time-consuming. You can get an online degree or certificates from institutions and other organizations. The goal is to make your resume more impressive and kick-ass. People who have more degrees and certificates usually get the higher job offers.
It’s pretty hard to actually ask for a raise nowadays with all cut-offs in this horrific economic crunch. Still, some employers will be more than happy to incentivize good people. Just make sure your timing is right when you ask for additional compensation.
