High Heels and Health Problems

There are no shoes more glamorous than high heels. However, there are no shoes more dangerous either. The link between high heels and health problems is not exactly new.
Among the bad results of wearing high heels, the following are the more popular diseases: back problems, arthritis, chronic knee pain, sprained ankles and knee osteoarthritis. Know if your shoes put your feet in grave danger.
Does thickness of the heels matter? Stilettos look like the most dangerous among the shoe types, because of its long and sharply pointed heels. And even though it might be true, shoes that have wider heels also cause the same health problems. In general, shoes with tall heels are not the most ideal footwear.
High-heels put extra strain on the knees. Aside from this, you can also develop foot problems like Morton’s neuroma, bunions, calluses and hammertoe.
Because of the painful health problems you can get from use of high heels, you might want to wear shoes with not-so-high heels. According to studies, shoes with low heels of one-half to three-quarters of an inch are the best for foot health.
You might also want to dispose shoes which pinch your toes. Once a pair proves to be painful, don’t wear it again because related foot and leg problems can lead to surgery.
When it comes to painful foot and leg problems, you might want to go for function before fashion.
