AC MILAN new boy Luas Paqueta has been branded a “top baller” after an amazing ‘rainbow flick’ in his Serie A debut against Genoa.
The 21-year-old has been impressing fans with his sublime skill since joining the Italian club for £30.7million from Flamengo.
With the game tied at 0-0 during the second half, Paqueta performed the outrageous flick over Genoa’s Daniel Bessa before passing the ball to a teammate.
The audacious trick had AC Milan fans raving at their new acquisition, with one claiming “Paqueta looks like the most complete midfield prospect since Paul Pogba.”
Twitter user Matt Tempest wrote: “Watched him at the Maracana for Flamengo in October. He absolutely bossed it. Top baller.”
The attacking midfielder, who also saw a speculative long-range volley strike the post, was described by ESPN analyst Matteo Bonetti as a “GIF dream.”
User A West agreed with that post, writing: “Paquetá is SO Brazilian. you can tell he doesn’t feel right in the game if he isn’t allowed to *play* with the ball, to caress it, get some enjoyment out of it before he moves it on. it’s gonna be an interesting balance seeing him grow as a player.”
Another posted: “Make the arrangements for the Lucas Paqueta statue immediately,” while one argued that “a big team will buy him if he continues like this.”
AC Milan eventually went on to secure all three points in a 2-0 victory with former Liverpool stars Fabio Borini and Suso on the scoresheet.
Paqueta, who was linked with a move to Anfield, joins a long list of illustrious Brazilians to light up the San Siro from Ronaldo and Ronaldinho, to Robinho and Kaka.
The playmaker earned two Brazil caps while playing in his homeland but missed out on a place in the World Cup squad after being the youngest member of the provisional.
