TOTTENHAM HOTSPURS fans are fuming as Heung-min Son’s South Korea went through in the Asian Cup with a 2-1 win against Bahrain.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are desperate for the forward’s return after suffering an injury crisis during Son’s absence with Dele Alli and Harry Kane long-term absentees.

The news that Son will continue to be unavailable didn’t go down well with Spurs fans

Son has already missed part of this season to play for his country, memorably leading the under-23 side to an Asian Games gold medal in September.

After a compromise was reached between club and country, Son delayed leaving to ensure he was available for games against Manchester United and Chelsea in the League Cup.

But, after South Korea knocked out Bahrain to reach the Asian Cup quarter-finals Spurs fans realised the in-form forward would now miss the return leg at Stamford Bridge.

Twitter user David Megicks wrote: “I’m happy but also fuming! We need him :(”

Another posted: “This day just gets worse and worse,” while one Spurs fan believed Son was as unhappy as they were to not be returning to North London.

Son already admitted he was sad to be leaving  Tottenham’s trophy chase to play at the Asian Cup.

The popular forward said: “Of course I feel very sorry because I missed [games] already in September.

“I feel sorry for my team-mates, the fans and the coaching staff. It’s difficult. Sometimes you think it’s a bit sad, but it is also important for my country.

“I hope I can keep my form for the national team and when I come back here again as well.”
