VINCENT JANSSEN could be set to follow Mousa Dembele from Tottenham to China – after snubbing a loan move to Sevilla.

The Spaniards wanted to take the Dutch strike flop until the end of the season.

But Spurs and the player himself are holding out for a permanent move.

There has been interest from China where Guangzhou R&F snapped up his former Tottenham team-mate Dembele for £11m last week.

Janssen, 24, is desperate to quit the club after getting back to full fitness.

The North Londoners are willing to take up to a £5million hit on the striker they bought from AZ Alkmaar for £17m in the summer of 2016.

Janssen had finished the previous season as the Eredivisie’s top scorer with 27 goals.

But he found finding the net in England far more difficult, scoring nine times for Tottenham in 39 appearances – mainly as a sub – in all competitions.

Janssen spent last season on loan at Turkish giants Fenerbahce but made just 16 appearances scoring just four goals as he was hampered by injury.

He returned to Tottenham but was told by manager Mauricio Pochettino is not part of his plans.

Janssen has been allowed to keep using Spurs’ first-team facilities whilst training and playing with the development squad.

He has starred for their U23 team in recent days, playing two matches in which he scored once and provided two assists.

The forgotten frontman has not given up all hope of remaining in the Premier League.
