Trump already at home in the oval office

On Friday evening, Donald Trump signed a decree aimed at dismantling Obamacare, the flagship reform of his predecessor.

This is the first image of Donald Trump in the Oval Office, seated behind the presidential desk. He signs three decrees: the first confirms General James Mattis secretary at La Défense, the second places General John Kelly at the head of the Homeland department (the equivalent of the Ministry of the Interior), and the third confirms the beginning of the End of Obamacare, the health insurance put in place by his predecessor. Trump shows that he is at work from his first day at the White House, as he had promised. He is surrounded by his close guard: his son-in-law Jared Kushner, his advisers Kellyanne Conway and Hope Hicks, his vice-president Mike Pence, his chief of staff Reince Priebus. In the oval office, he has already handed over the bust of Winston Churchill that Barack Obama had relegated to the closet, replaced the red curtains by others, gilded, and changed the sofas. Hardly installed, he already feels at home.

A few hours earlier, until noon, the Presidency's website posted: "Yes, we did. Yes, we can "," Yes we can, yes we did it ". It was Friday morning, so to speak another century. Donald Trump arrived shortly after 9:30 am with Melania who had a gift for Michelle. What the former and the new president said were state secrets, but the outgoing left a letter to his successor in accordance with tradition. Together, they pompously mounted Pennsylvania Avenue to the Capitol for the investiture ceremony. Melania Trump appeared in a Ralph Lauren dress that gave her a false look of Jackie Kennedy. Trump made Trump, with no frills: his speech of investiture, resolutely populist, lasted only sixteen minutes. This is one of the shortest nomination speeches in the history of the United States. He was lucky: when he started talking, the rain began to fall but soon calmed down. He promised to "restore power to the people" and launched: "From now on, it is America first." Michelle Obama, right behind him, did not hide his exasperation.

A cold handshake with Clinton

Unlike the tradition that the winner pays tribute to the defeated, Trump did not have a word for Hillary Clinton, yet present, a few meters from him, as a former First Lady. He caught up a little later at the end of the congressional parliamentary lunch that was held just after the ceremony, saying he had a "deep respect" for the Clinton. The two former opponents exchanged a cold handshake: Trump addressed a few words to his ex-rival and then turned away without waiting for his answer, leaving her alone.

He then boarded the "The Beast", the presidential limousine, for the traditional parade held after each election since 1801. Once he arrived in front of the White House, he watched from a rostrum the military parade , Which seemed to amuse him a lot. Then he discovered his new home, his new office, signed the first decrees, before putting on a tuxedo to arrive at the first of the three galas organized in his honor. To open the ball, he danced with Melania, sumptuous in his long ivory dress, designed by French designer Hervé Pierre. The opening song was occasional: it was "My Way", an old tube that tells the story of Trump. That of an outsider arrived at the top "in his way", taking everyone by surprise.
