THE proportion of the UK population identifying as lesbian, gay or bisexual has risen, latest figures show.
Those saying they are LGB increased by 33 per cent over five years.

By contrast, the proportion who identify as straight dropped from 94.4 per cent in 2012 to 93.2 per cent in 2017, the Office for National Statistics revealed.
The LGB figure rose from 1.5 per cent to two per cent over the same period.

The ONS said 1.1million people aged 16 and over identified as LGB in a population of 52.8million.
It added that young people could be more likely to identify as LGB because the sexual identities have become more socially acceptable over time.
Paula Guy, of the ONS’s Population Statistics Division, said: “We estimate 4.2 per cent of people aged 16 to 24 identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual, a higher proportion than for older age groups.”
