The rat race can be very exhausting, not to mention routine. Sometimes you just wake up one morning and you’re just not excited to go to work anymore. What happened to all that career drive? Don’t worry, you’re not getting lazier. It’s just that your interests are taking a detour. Maybe you’re tired of taking orders. Maybe it’s time you become the boss. And maybe having your own business is the solution to your problem. But just before you pass your resignation, you should ask yourself if you’re ready to take on a business.
How much can you commit? Having your own business will feel more like a commitment as you become more involved in your venture. If you know yourself to be a man of patience and dedication, then you have the potential to succeed and follow through with your business’ goals. But if you tend to slack off with your duties and are not very reliable, then enterprise is not for you.
Can you work without being supervised? The beauty of being an entrepreneur is that you get to work on your own time, without any department monitoring your time entries. But this can also be your downfall. If you want to make it big in the business, you have to have a winning work attitude.
Do you believe in what you’re selling? You have to be a fan of your own product because you can’t sell it unless you truly think it’s the greatest thing you’ve ever seen.
Are you strategic? At many points in your business, you will be forced to make risky decisions that can either boost your profit or blow your opportunities of expansion. There will always be risks, but the key thing is to be strategic. You can’t just bet your whole investment unless you’re confident that you will not lose everything.
