Some of us are born leaders; while some of us are not. There’s an ocean of possibilities for people who have leadership skills. They do better in the office and they’re more likely to succeed. If all your life you have always been the follower, you’re probably sick of taking orders. Tired of it? Then it’s time for you to be an initiator, a self-made leader.
A leader has vision. A person cannot be a leader if he doesn’t have a target or a goal. The target is what will drive you to always move forward. A person who doesn’t know what he wants and where he wants to go cannot possibly lead because he is also lost.
A leader should be strategic. Just like in every battle, it takes a good strategy to overcome obstacles. All problems have a solution. You just have to either discover it or scheme it out.
The leader has a sense of accountability and responsibility. When bad things happen, the leader steps up to take responsibility for his actions. A person in charge is always in charge — and that means that he is in charge even when shit happens. Especially when shit happens.
A leader is open to other opinions. Just as important as making big decisions, a leader listens to the opinions of others. Opening your mind to other people’s suggestions will help you acknowledge your options. A leader is not perfect in values, but is continuously advancing towards it.
